The journey of rehabilitation and recovery decades after a traumatic brain injury - a qualitative study

Traumatic brain injury can have profound and long lasting impacts on an individuals cognition, emotions, relationships, ability to work and study, as well as their identity and sense of self. Due to improvements in critical care and rehabilitation, more patients are surviving beyond the acute period and living for many years post injury. There is little in-depth information about how the journey of recovery is experienced by individuals in the long-term post injury. The purpose of this study is to examine in-depth the journey of rehabilitation and recovery for individuals who are at least 10 years post injury.
