Just Say No To The Just In Case Chest Tube: An Implementation Study.

Description
An international ground-breaking large randomised controlled trial (RCT) ( CI, Egerton-Warburton) and meta-analysis has demonstrated that conservative management of moderate-to-large primary spontaneous pneumothoraces is effective in seven out of eight patients.(15) Conservative management results in less recurrence, adverse events, hospital length of stay, surgical intervention, and days off work compared to invasive management. This has resulted in changes to national guidelines to recommend conservative management as first line therapy. The next critical step is implementation. Outcome: The aim of this project is to develop a national consensus implementation guideline and toolkit for health services. Implementation will occur in two jurisdictions and an adaptive co-design will be used to refine and evaluate implementation packages.
